"While my first compositions were very intense and present in the foreground, I learned over the years to work with more subtle tones, hidden within the soundscape of the film."

Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz

Antoni Komasa-Łazarkiewicz grew up in a filmmaking community in Warsaw, and started to compose music for film and television at a very young age. He started his musical education at the age of six by attending music school in Warsaw, starting with the piano before taking up the clarinet and percussion. From 1998-2003, Antoni studied composition with prof. Marek Stachowski at the Academy of Music in Krakow.

Antoni´s first cooperation with Agnieszka Holland on a film Julie Walking Home brought him international attention. In 2007 he moved from Warsaw to Berlin. At that time, he worked regularly on German films, so he decided to move to Berlin, where it was also easier for him to carry out German projects.

In 2008 he got the European Film Music Trophy Young Talent Award for the film Winterreise (third cooperation with German director Hans Steinbichler) and also German Television Music Award for the film Die zweite Frau.

Although I'm a versatile composer, eager to experiment with different styles of musical narrative in film, my recent projects have been evolving around the subject of modern history, and the struggle of the individual against terror inflicted by society and politics. I enjoy exploring the subconscious, and depicting through music what is hidden deep inside the protagonist's soul.
