Darko Lungulov

From Driving Van to Film Festival’s Red Carpet

"While studying film at City College of New York I supported myself driving a van and carrying boxes and furniture every day before and after film classes. Every time my beeper would go off, I would run out of class to make a phone call to my prospective clients. My professors and fellow students thought I was a drug dealer."

From 1997 to 2003 he has worked as director of documentaries at the production company Spiral Pictures/Ross and taught production courses at Long Island University and was a Media Studies faculty member at the Ross School.

In 2004 Darko’s documentary ESCAPE won the Audience Award at Hamptons International Film Festival and was screened at numerous documentary festivals since (IDFA Amsterdam, Leipzig, Go East Film Festival).

Currently, Darko is in post-production of his next film, dark comedy, MONUMENT TO MICHAEL JACKSON which is scheduled for release later this year. The script was awarded at Script Corner of Manaki Film Festival, Macedonia.

He is also a Film Consultant for RocketHub, a New York based global crowd-funding platform and a president of board of BelDocs - Belgrade International Documentary Film Festival.
