Call for applications

The workshop is open for directors and editors who are students or recent graduates of European film schools. Teams of directors and editors can apply with short films or feature-length films that are in the rough-cut stage.

Dates: December 9 – 12, 2013

Place: FAMU Prague, Czech Republic


• Pilot – 3 to 7 minutes long

• 2 selected scenes from the rough-cut

• 1- page synopsis of the project

Deadline for applications: November 10, 2013

Fee: EUR 100 per person

The fee includes accommodation, board and tuition materials at the workshop. Travel costs are not included.


Norman Hollyn is a long-time film, television and music editor (HEATHERS, THE COTTON CLUB, SOPHIE’S CHOICE, Oliver Stone’s WILD PALMS), and is a Full Professor and Head of the Editing Track at the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts. He is an author of nearly 100 articles and his internationally translated book, THE FILM EDITING ROOM HANDBOOK. He has taught worldwide, including several workshops for the Royal Film Commission in Jordan, and schools in Shanghai and Beijing, China. He has taught at the Sundance Film Festival, and consults and speaks at major corporations such as Dreamworks Pictures, Pixar Animation, Forbes and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Head of Studies of the workshop:

Ivo Trajkov, Macedonian film director, producer, film editor, screenwriter and story editor, was born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia in 1965. He graduated from Film and TV School of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (FAMU), Czech Republic (1986–1992). In 1994 he co-founded The World Circle Foundation and produced over 150 documentary films and several feature films. His filmography as a director/screenwriter includes 5 feature-length films for which he received numerous

awards. From 2004 he works as a professor and head of editing department on FAMU, Prague. In 2008 he received title Honorary Ambassador of Culture of the Republic of Macedonia in Czech Republic.
