Developing of a Script

MIDPOINT was conceived at FAMU Prague (CZ) in partnership with film schools VŠMU Bratislava (SK), PWSFTviT Łódź (PL), UNATC Bucharest (RO) and SZFE Budapest (HU). Throughout the year, MIDPOINT also organizes miniMIDPOINT workshops in its partnering countries as well as the Training the Trainers workshop for young teachers of screenwriting. It also offers master classes to students and professional audiences in the area of film dramaturgy.

Pavel Jech is a graduate of Columbia University as well as of FAMU, where he has served as dean since 2008. Pavel has broad teaching experience in scriptwriting and dramaturgy, both in the Czech Republic and in the US, and has worked internationally as a screenwriter and script doctor. Prior to taking on his latest post he was chair of FAMU International, where he gained extensive experience in working with teams of international students. Pavel Jech has been with MIDPOINT since its very beginning, has co-created the program and serves now as its Acting Head of Studies.

Helena Zajicova has worked for the script development program MIDPOINT at FAMU since 2010. Previously, she was Program Director of the One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, the world´s largest film festival focused on human rights. She also worked for the Open Society Georgia Foundation as organizer/programmer of the South Caucasus Traveling Documentary Film Festival in 2009. Helena Zajicova collaborates with festivals and film institutions in East-Central Europe and in the South Caucasus.
